Unlike billion-dollar failure Quibi, Verve’s content is designed with the Gen-Z audience in mind (who else uses smartphones to the extent that they do?) and produced to fit the aspect ratio of the smartphone and the natural viewing nature of smartphone users - aka, held vertically. Verve’s content is also completely shot on an iPhone, keeping production budgets low. Short, 5-7 minute episodes are dropped every single day of the week in the app. Verve, which is completely free to users, is subsidized through pre-roll advertising and in-show product placement.
